I stopped using adsense because I made more money with per lead and per sale programs. Why earn pennies per click when you can get dollars?
I have a financial website and I use pulsarmarketing.com for my links. I make at least $6,000 per month, and often up to $9,000 per month.
The other good thing about not using adsense is that the programs I promote also help me get repeat visitors because they are happy visitors. They dont consider my website just an advertising site, but mainly as a good resource for loans and credit cards and they tell their friends and family about it. I have never heard of anyone recommending an adsense-type website to their friends and family!

It all depends on what kind of traffic you get, more traffic means more clicks and hence more earnings
Enough that some places generate enough revenue to run a message board loaded with Adsense links and pay people for their posting activity.
