I have been with Google Adsense since June 2003 and all this time got our payment. There was only one instance when Google Adsense payment was delayed - and that was way back November 2003, but they sent the payment within the first 2 weeks of December. After that, payment has always been on time.
Google does not kick out publishers just for the heck of kicking out people. Remember, every single publisher is a CASH COW -- when you earn, Google also earns from you. Google kicks out publishers caught generating invalid clicks.
Invalid clicks is a "catch all" term that they use, but it does not always mean that the publisher cheated. It can mean anywhere from clicking on your own ads, labeling the ads, inciting visitors to support the site and click on the ads, etc. Basically it means the publisher violated the Program Policies and Terms and Conditions
You have to remember that the first responsibility of Google is to satisfy their advertisers, where the money comes from; and not the publishers. They need to protect the interests of advertisers at all cost. As a result, any clicks perceived to be less than above-board are investigated oftentimes leading to the cancellation of the account of the publisher.
Do not believe what you often hear -- those are from disgruntled publishers, publishers who cheated (and some who cheated but don't want to admit it). If you follow the rules, you WILL NOT be kicked out. But violate the rules, and they will kick you out faster than you can blink your eye.

I have never got a cheque from Google. They transfer the money by eft on time every time. Thats right, on one day in the middle of the month I get a few zeros added to my account. Google does not cheat people, people cheat google. Fraudulent clicks etc and doing other stuff against the terms of service. If you are honest and why wouldn't you be because of the large amounts you can make everything will go fine.
