So far so good. I built my first website ever in December and started marketing it in January, I made $340 the first month, and now in March I made just under $1000.
I tried all the clickbank and CJ stuff, and as the first guy said unless you are driving tons of traffic to their links its hard to make money at $2 per conversion, and most clickbank purchasers sign up for free so they buy with their own links and save.
I am converting 1/200 and I use a website, PPC and forum sigs. So I don't need a lot of traffic and my average commission is $60, but I have made 4 $175 commissions so far as well.
The Affiliate program is free to join and they have tons of support, free website templates, banner ads and tons of articles, plus their team is really supportive.

What do you mean be affiliate? need to clarify, if you mean affiliate marketing, that is you help market other folks products or services, typically you only make money if your on-line presence can drive enough traffic to the affiliate's vendor site, you need too generate tons of traffic on the order of at least 1000 unique visitors a day before you can expect to see any real revenue. Some affiliate programs only count conversions (that is leads or traffic that actually become sales), if this is the case you may need to drive 10X as much traffic to generate sales. It's possible but requires a lot of traffic, which means you site has to be very popular.
Yes, there are plenty of ways to make money on the Internet. You just have to find the right method for you. :)
You can make money by taking surveys, reviewing software, advertising for other companies, Myspace marketing, all sorts of ways...

Yes, I am an affiliate for several items (mostly clickbank). I also have written a book that other affiliates sell for me.

It's kindof a win-win-win situation. I win because I sell my ebooks. My affiliates win because they make about ten bucks every time someone buys my book. Since my ebook is about getting teaching jobs, my customers win because they have excellent information that helps them to get a job.
I enjoy affiliate marketing because it helps people find products they can use. Also, I enjoy making websites, so marketing gives me an outlet for my web design. and making a little extra money isn't a bad thing either.
