Question: can i try google adsense on a site hosted free?

I doubt it.
Most free hosting companies do not allow Adsense.
The only one that I know which does is Google's blog: Blogger.com

It depends on the site. More and more of them are allowing it, but you'd need to check the ToS for each one. There are even a lot of sites that are not only free, but share the ad space with you. Here's a big list of those:
