If you get a good targeted list of lots subscribers to your newsletter or blog, you have the potential to make good income. The better the content and quality of your site, the better google ranks you and therefore pays you. I don't think you should focus on google - instead focus on affiliate programs you can sell on your site and view google more like icing on the cake.
