I am confused, please help?
Question:
I am interesting in specializing in nerworking and designing side by side so thinking to do 3 years Microsoft course but my parents are asking me to do BCA ( bachelor of computer applications - 3 years in India) and then to do any course which i want which is a long time off.
Is doing a degree important or shall i go on with a Microsoft course, the person incharge in the institute told me that Microsoft course is also a degree which my parents deny, they say that its not an affiliate degree like BCA, BCOM, MBA etc.
Is there an affiliate degree in networking. If i have to choose a college degree which is the best in the field of computers connecting networking, at present i have in hand BCA.. pls advise thanks
Answers:
Three years is not long to get a degree, so I would suggest letting your parents win this discussion and press on.
Go to a REAL college and get a REAL degree. Period.
Also, tech school certifications are NOT degrees! Yes, I know that they issue "bachelors degree in _____" after you've finished their training, but these are NOT fully accredited degrees. As stupid as this may sound, it is NOT illegal for them to to that, so you have to be smarter than that, and NOT fall into that trap. Tech schools are simply training businesses, NOT accredited colleges. This means that their so-called degrees are NOT valid and will not be treated as REAL degrees in the job market. It's a BIG risk you're taking if you decide to "go" with them.
There really should be a law to prevent these businesses from representing themselves as colleges that offer "real" degrees. But there isn't.
Again, and from the bottom of my heart, do NOT fall for the sales pitch, go to a REAL college and get a REAL degree. You will be glad you did!
