Google AdSense Help!?

Question: I'm making a fan site for a game (thanks to those who just answered my fan site based question) called RuneScape, and I wanted to bring in some cash by using Google AdSense. But there's a problem. I'm afraid the only ads AdSense will display are the ones where you can buy RuneScape gold, which is illegal. Can I pick which ads I want AdSense to display or is it not possible for me to put AdSense on my website? Thanks.

Unfortunately, most of the ads showing in Runescape sites are those selling RS money or gold. There is no way to select the ads on your site, but what you can do is to block them. The bad part is that you may be left with nothing in your niche if all of the adverts are for the same thing.

Remember that Adsense will first show the highest paying ads. If you block the first ads that Adsense will show because you don't like what they are offering, then you will be left with low-paying ads.

The result is that you will earn significantly less from Adsense because:

- the ads in and by itself for your niche are low paying
- if you block the first ads shown (RS2 and RS money) then you will be left with lower paying ads, which can even lower your income
- game sites are notorious for low click throughs and low paying keywords

I suggest you look at other ad options, particularly banners especially if your site will generate tremendous traffic (as many gaming websites do)
