It really depends on the topic of your site, how the ads are implemented, and basically how Adsense is optimized in your site.
In terms of topic, some topics such as dating or gaming -- which are both fairly low paying clicks -- would need about 100,000 visitors or more per day before they can even earn $1,000 a month. That means to earn about $100K, they would need millions of visitors per month.
However, good content sites on small business and entrepreneurship, for example, would need only 400,000 visitors or even less per month and still earn a nice $15,000-$20,000 a month.
Also consider the click though rate -- huge difference in income can be earned if your CTR is 10% as against 1%.
It is really hard to determine how you will earn from Adsense or even other affiliate programs -- the only way is to test it on your site and experiment the best way to showcase the ads that will bring in the most revenue
it depends on what products your advertise. medical products pay much more than cd's. but figure a $30 commission for every medical equipment sale means 3334 people would need to click and buy. depending on the content of your site, say 10% of people actually click on the link and buy right then, you would need 33,340 people a year.

You can open a "mall" . Which is difficult to do on your own because of cutting , pasting html codes for businesses and then you have to update ( most times weekly) or when a customer clicks on one of your store banners it won't work.
A better idea is to have someone do it for you . I use a power mall, which I get for free . I can see my sales and commissions as well as those of my downline. There are over 1000 stores in my mall like Old Navy, Macy's, Aeropostale ...not cheapo stores like some malls.
You asked the question though about how many visitors to make 100k.. hard to answer but it would bee alot . On average only 3% of people who see your site will actually buy something and the average sale is 34.00 roughly. So if you earn 5% commission ... you can figure it out.
What you'll need is a downline , people making money for themselves and you .

Im only at level 3 but I am making real money for the first time with affiliate marketing, not the 3-5 dollars per month I used to make.
