I am an affiliate member of a site thast says I will earn money. Do you think it is effective?

Affiliate programs are only effective if the site you advertise them on (your site) gets alot of hits. I wouldn't believe any promises a website makes to pay you $50. You have to concider what value both parties are getting from it.
