how can i optimise my site to get a really high quality score?! some have told me that by adding a 'contact us' page or a privacy policy page then you will get lots of traffic, I think this may make a difference but it seems like my sites are still being kept on the lower positions! why?!

well, google determines your site by many factors. some of these factors are:
1. Traffic, the traffic on your site helps alot, but google can tell if it's just a few guys on alot of the time, or many guys on.
2. having other sites link to your site helps, but you don't want those sites to have a low score also. having a bunch of really good sites link to yours because yours has good information is a good idea. If you have many crappy sites link to yours, then your score will go down.
3. content, the content of your site is a key factor. Google won't bother if all your site says is "hello"
