You can use Geocities or Tripod.
Google Adsense allows sites on free hosting services. However, they do not allow a page to be displaying Adsense with competing contextual advertising provider. If you use Geocities, you'll get into trouble with this because their free hosting shows Yahoo Publishers Network ads. If you're going to use Geocities, you will be in violation of the Google Adsense ads, and they could kick you out of the program (oh yes, they kick out publishers).
